ReMaTools — Rename, Material, and Scene Management for 3ds Max
ReMaTools is a lightweight, easy-to-install, and high-performance utility designed to optimize your daily 3ds Max workflow. The name perfectly represents its three core pillars: Rename, Material, and Scene Tools. It provides seamless, real-time synchronization between your viewport and the asset list.

- "Rename" Button (Mass Batch Renaming): Select multiple items at once and rename them simultaneously. Uses smart processing to ensure unique naming across the scene.
- "Middle-Mouse Click" Shortcut: Quickly rename selected viewport objects with a single middle-mouse click (scroll wheel) to trigger the renaming process instantly.
- "Object" Checkbox: Targets only the base geometry names for renaming when the "Rename" button is pressed.
- "Material" Checkbox: Directly updates the name of the assigned materials globally across the entire scene and the Material Editor.
- "Group" Checkbox: Renames the parent group node (Group Head) of the selected objects.
- "Add Counter" Checkbox: Automatically appends clean sequential numbering (
_01,_02, etc.) to the end of names during multiple selection renaming.
🚀 [Ma] — Smart Material Tracking
- "Pick Material" Button (Pipette): No more searching through complex scenes! Extract the assigned material from any selected object with a single click, automatically opening the Material Editor and displaying the shader right away.
- "Type" Column (Shader Type Detection): It shows not just the material name, but its exact type (e.g., V-RayMtl, CoronaPhysicalMtl, Physical Material, etc.), making it easy to spot wrong shaders.
🚀 [Tools] — Scene Management & Diagnostics
- "Refresh" Button: Instantly scans the entire scene or current selection to build a clean overview of all assets, active materials, and their current modifier stacks.
- "Only Selected" Checkbox (Viewport Scanner): Acts like a real-time scanner. When enabled, it filters out all scene noise and displays details only for the items you currently have selected in the viewport.
- "Modifier" Column (Stack Insight): Displays the exact number of modifiers applied to an object, along with the name of the very last (top) modifier in the stack.
- "Column Headers" Clicking (Smart Sorting): Click on any column header (Object, Material, Type, etc.) to instantly filter and sort the spreadsheet alphabetically or numerically.
🎛️ Interface & Feedback Panels
- Bottom Stats Bar (Left Side): Displays critical scene diagnostics, showing the total object count and unique material count.
- Action Log History (Right Side): A dedicated information panel that shows successfully executed commands and tool feedback, so you always know what the script has processed.
